If you can't swim, you should not go snorkeling. This is especially true in deeper water, especially in water deeper than head height. If you can't swim, you can't really go snorkeling, because snorkeling requires you to float on the surface, head in the water, and then swim together.

This is true whether you use fins such as fins for some people to snorkel. Many snorkelers prefer to snorkel with flippers. Swimming or snorkeling with fins makes it easier to make progress while snorkeling.

The fins help propel you through the water faster. So you save your energy. Plus fins will also help you easily dive underwater, which is called duck diving. Having said so much about swimming skills are essential, I am not talking about the need to be a strong swimmer.

You only need basic swimming skills. Please use your common sense. To be able to snorkel, you need to be confident in the water. Swimming first will give you the confidence you need.

It can also keep you safe when you are in the water. Whenever you enter the water, whether in a swimming pool, a lake or the sea, you need to know how to swim first. If you are in trouble, you need to be able to swim to a safe place.

If you can't swim, I suggest you take some swimming lessons first. If there is a swimming pool in the area, you can take swimming lessons at the local gym. Or, take a class in a swimming pool near you.

You can even find local people who have private swimming pools and they also offer private swimming lessons there. Being in or near the water is about self-confidence. Learning to snorkel requires you to have confidence in the water.

If you plan to snorkel before learning to swim, please at least use a life jacket or pool noodles. In addition, pay attention to ocean currents and rapids. You can snorkel happily on the water surface and float on the water with the aid of buoyancy aids.

But if you were suddenly washed into the sea by ocean currents, what would you do? In this case, your buoyancy aid will float you, but will not prevent you from being washed away. In this situation, you need to be able to remain calm.
